Disconite

Disconite is an unofficial, community-owned, and community-managed ecosystem of platforms and projects dedicated to the social VR platform Resonite.

The project focuses on building accessible infrastructure, bots, and localization tools to enrich the Resonite community.

Purpose

Disconite was created to solve a common challenge in modern VR communities: the walled garden nature of instant-messaging platforms like Discord. Providing a shared space that anyone can take a peek at, without being required or forced to sign up for a Discord account.

Disconite serves as a searchable repository for knowledge and community interaction. It emphasizes:

Knowledge Retention: A long-term public knowledge base that's different from the wiki, intended to be used for questions that relate to "real world" cases of creations in Resonite.
Community Independence: Operating entirely independent of YDMS (the game's parent company) to (for now) give users a purely community-run ecosystem.

Under the Disconite branding, the group hosts and maintains a few distinct projects to serve the wider community:

The Disconite Forum

The flagship branch of the ecosystem, located at disconite.net, is a community bulletin board powered by Discourse. The forum acts as an alternative entrypoint for new and current Resonite players. It includes deep gamification features, such as custom community badges and identity flairs, allowing members to prominently display their roles, identities, and groups (if said groups accepted to be put on the forum).

Disconite Translation Platform (Weblate)

To make Resonite global, especially on the translation aspect, Disconite manages a centralized localization platform powered by Weblate, located at translate.disconite.net. This community-driven effort allows volunteers to coordinate, translate, and maintain localizations, ensuring international users have native-language access to Resonite.

DisconiteBot

An open-source Discord utility bot for Resonite, written in TypeScript, supported by MySQL over Prisma.

The bot is fully modernized as a Discord Application and can be added directly via the DisconiteBot Invite Link. It supports both User Installs (allowing users to invoke the bot globally across any server or DM via their own profile with basic application command access) and Guild Installs for server-wide use. Because it relies heavily on Discord Interactions, it requires minimal permissions, needing only basic "Send Messages" for most of its featuresert.

Features and slash commands include:

Ecosystem Search: Quick integration with the forum via /disconite forum and /disconite search forum, as well as string localization queries via /disconite search translation.
Resonite Lookup Tools: On-the-fly commands to search the official wiki (/resonite search wiki), resolve cloud accounts (/resonite search account), or unpack record and session links (/resonite search record).
Live Metrics Tracking: Rich server tracking capabilities including /resonite metrics register and /resonite metrics preview to display live instance data and toggle session thumbnails.
Troubleshooting & FAQ Assistance: Built-in quick pointers for common questions, such as platform compatibility (/resonite quest (may move to different command)).
Advanced Session Lists: When installed directly to a server, the bot offers an active session tracking embed with page navigation, and buttons to obtain an session orb for the session inside of Resonite.
