Mute Helper

From Resonite Wiki
This article or section is a stub. You can help the Resonite wiki by expanding it.

Mute Helper is a tool allowing users to write messages that will then be displayed in-world as a speech bubble, similar to built-in text chat systems on other platforms. This can be useful for users who can't or prefer not to speak out loud, whether due to disabilities or hardware issues.

Mute Helper can be found in the Accessibility subfolder of Resonite Essentials. After installing it to one's avatar[note 1], the user can start writing a message either through the context menu or by pressing H if playing with a keyboard. By default, messages are displayed next to the user in a floating rectangle, accompanied by a notification sound, as well as preserved in the user's message history (for quick resending) and on "chatlog" boards if present.

The system is extensible with addons, which can be configured in the context menu after installation. Popular addons include translation and text-to-speech, both using external HTTP requests.

  1. Either by accessing the context menu while holding it or, uniquely, by "eating" it, i.e. by bringing it to one's head.
