General Information

HardLight is known for their photon-based force field systems giving the group's name. The cave was discovered accidentally by the HardLight Founder Nordwick on a journey to satisfy his desire for exploration.

The radiation emitted by the crystals found in the cave and the area around it was deemed "harmless" (further studies needed). Group members noticed a revitalizing and even rejuvenating effect on biological lifeforms. It was discovered that the energy is stable and compatible with the systems of the HardLight group. This new power source enables "low power" portable force field generators for even private applications. To draw attention to this innovation, it was decided to advertise them by developing party locations all over the universe.

Nordwick

HardLight Founder & Chief Surveyor / Crystal Matrix Engineer - Exploration team leader

While mapping out another seemingly lifeless star system. Nordwick noticed some interesting readings on his sensor array. After locating the source of the signal he attempted to land, after all piloting wasn't his strong point. By the impact, the surrounding surface collapsed, leaving a partial opening to an ominous cave. He summoned his group members after he deemed the radiation "safe" for further exploration. His ship was in much need of repairs and attention from Chris anyway.

Kyuubi Yoru

Crystal Matrix Engineer - Exploration team member

KyuubiYoru was the first one of the group to arrive at Nordwick's "landing" coordinates. After transporting the wreckage to a more stable location close by, they started to set up a base of operations. After approving Nordwick's opinion on the status of the radiation, he then wandered off to survey the surrounding area while Nordwick waited for his other comrades . Nearby he found a stream leading to a more level entrance, his curiosity pulled him deep into the cave. After re-emerging from the cave, the rest of the group had arrived. While Chris was busy raging about what had happened to Nordwick’s ship, Jackson congratulated Kyuubi on his new look. Kyuubi, not knowing what he meant, accepted the compliment not realising the rejuvenating effect of the radiation yet. Later spotting his yellow feathers everywhere in the cave.

Chris Blackpaw

Application Engineer / Space pilot - Exploration team member

Shortly after Chris had finished reprimanding Nordwick for his flying skills. They decided to inspect the cave and discover where the readings originated from. KyuubiYoru lead the groups expedition to the entrance, where Chris immediately started to investigate the hovering crystal structure. After some drawbacks and some "minor" explosions, Chris devised a means to harvest the energy radiating from the crystals. Even though peak output wasn't very high, it was constant, seemingly endless. It harmonised very well with the current state of HardLights technology and it was then decided to implement it into additional applications. To test its potential and to boost "HardLight Systems" to the next level in power delivery.

Jackson

Crystal Matrix Engineer / Polymath - Exploration team member

Jacksons main task was to aid the development of the crystal powered systems. Which also meant to keep an eye on Chris. After a short time Jackson noticed the revitalizing effect of the radiation. Further studies showed that the water-like liquid running through the cave was vibrating with the crystal's energy. He enjoyed riding the "lazy River" around the collapsed ceiling so much that he decided to move his workplace into the "water". The liquid does not wet surfaces and the tools are watertight anyway so why not?

Nickel

Style Visionary / Design Artist - Exploration team member

When the idea of promoting the new power system with event locations all over the Universe came up, Nickel - a close friend of Chris - was called to oversee the project. He agreed to join the group, more so that he could "save" the design from all the "tech heads", as he put it. Making sure that the applications created by the group not only met the technical goals but also the artistic vision. Like preventing Chris from "hiding all the beautifull crystals behind stupid panels".

Ardes

Biochemical Engineer / Chief Botanist - Exploration team member

When Ardes was first exploring the cave, he made sure that it was not inhabited by dangerous lifeforms and was greeted by a group of flying jellyfish which seemingly did not care about the visitors or their new ceiling window. Fascinated by the creatures and eager to fulfill his role as the Chief Botanist he studied the jellyfish closely and licked them … mhhh blueberries. While studying the micro biological mass in the cave for its bioluminescent properties. Ardes discovered a way to modify its structure to a very robust rubber-like substance. To research the properties further he molded the substance into objects, some reflecting the shape of a species he met on earlier explorations and maybe a good companion for Jackson.

brodokk

Assistant Horticulturist - Exploration team member

Brodokk’s task was to research the biota of the area and make sure that it was preserved and not further/unnecessarily harmed. He also allocated probes for Ardes and provided help in documentation of the excursion. Fun Fact: Chris provided some experimental equipment for Brodokk's tasks. While teaching him how to use it, Brodokk accidently set Chris on fire... Most of his fluff has grown back by now thanks to Ardes. (Please don't ask Chris about this "funny" tale)

Zaira Wolfe

Assistant Stylist / Botanist - Exploration team member

Formally tasked with supporting Ardes and Brodokk with their objectives, Zaira was wandering off to the artistic realm inspired by Nickel. Using her botanical background to alter the fern-like plant appearing near the cave to make it more "glowie". Brodokk, with the goal to protect the area from spreading influence, did not have any of these shenanigans. After a heated discussion (Zaira obviously won) they came to the agreement to alter the ONE plant so that it couldn't reproduce and spread. That kind of thing always works... right... right?

Mysticporo

Assistant Visionary & Scribe - Exploration team member

While his main objective was to document the progress and achievements for the group he also came up with many useful ideas. After a short while he discovered a small grotto that deviates from the main cave. The silence and calming sounds of dripping water helped him focus on the tasks ahead. He forced his hand to keep the grotto untouched by distractions, just snatching some pillows and spreading them around to make it even more cosy.

Mahadma

Mercenary Supplier - Exploration team guest

Mahadma, a well known and respected mercenary supplier and friend of the Group, was asked to provide the needed equipment and parts for the project and repairs to the Ships. Also to replace some missing pillows that vanished a while ago.

MattyK

Stellar Wanderer - Exploration team guest

MattyK the lone stellar wanderer was cruising through Hyperspace as he detected some abnormal activities in this desolate area far away from the public known jump routes. He steered his ship from hyperspace and landed near the cave unnoticed by the group. Observing them for several hours, he decided to talk to them. The activities seem not to be harmful and the slightly burned looking guy, thrown through the cave by a massive explosion, might need some help. After enjoying the group's company for several hours he entered his ship with the words "you guys definitely need a dance pole for the hooters". An idea to be considered...

Major Remp

Particle Scientist - Exploration team guest

Major decided to enhance the teleporter with the crystal power system but failed to mention it to the others. Chris, not aware of the teleporter's state, was hurrying back from the cave to his workshop on the ship. Luckily the group was able to convince him to remove the additional limbs that got attached to Chris in the incident. (Even though Chris thought they may be useful in the future)
