The Ring of the Neolander, AKA, The Neoland Ring, The Anyland Ring, or just The Ring, is a tool for creating objects from primitive meshes created by Sloppy McFloppy for MMC 2022, heavily inspired by the soon-to-be defunct social VR game Anyland.

How to use

The ring is intended to be placed on the toolshelf, but also contains a Snapper that may be used to define a point on an avatar where the ring will attach to by placing a Snap Target with the keyword [placeholder] on an avatar. It is recommended that the avatar worn while using the ring has a valid Touch Tip, as it will work with laser interaction, but the experience will be significantly worse. The ring also only supports VR, as it is entirely built around these interactions.

While holding the ring in preparation to attach it to your avatar you will see a guide arrow that you should roughly align to the direction of your fingers. Once the ring is placed on your avatar the button on the ring may be pressed to open the menu, if the menu appears misaligned, close it and adjust the ring on your hand.

Other Information

The Ring of the Neolander was an honorable mention in the category it was submitted to for MMC 2022, other: TAU. It was submitted within a world made entirely using the ring and the other basic tools supplied by the game.

The ring was also featured in Creator Jam #161 - Neolander Jam, as the main focus for the event.[1]
