ProtoFlux:OnPaste
More actions
The On Paste node sends an impulse out of Trigger when the hierarchy it is part of is pasted into a world by a world transfer. This is useful for telling that an item was carried in from another world, as opposed to being spawned or duplicated.
A paste happens when:
- A user holds an object while switching to another world. The object is saved, carried through userspace, and pasted into the newly focused world when it is released.
- A legacy userspace panel is moved into the focused world with its transfer button.
The node does not fire when an object is spawned from the Inventory, duplicated, imported from a file, or imported with a clipboard paste (Ctrl+V). It also does not fire when the world itself loads.
Every On Paste node inside the pasted hierarchy fires once per paste, each independently of the others. The impulse is not sent during the paste itself, but is scheduled and runs shortly after. The node runs only for the user who carried the object over.
An object can only be carried over if the source world allows transferring objects out, the target world allows the user to spawn objects, and nothing in the object forbids saving.
